History
Although the club has a history stretching back to 1967, it was fortunate in 1988 to secure a lease on it’s present 1/2 acre site. Approximately £11,000 has been spent developing the site. In 1998 the club purchased the site, and as a result, looks forward to a secure future. Club fees are probably the cheapest on the river – we have to date only been interested in paying our way. Part of the secret is that members carry out most, if not all, of the improvement and routine maintenance work which is achieved by organised working parties during the winter period. These have proved popular in so far that they offer the opportunity for new members to meet the “old hands”. The club has a reputation for being very friendly and informal – we cater for both companion and lone sailors.
