Merricks Yacht Club was founded in 1964 as a small yard on the foreshore for the many enthusiastic fishermen and sailors in the holiday township of Merricks Beach. Since then it has grown into a popular local club which provides a great meeting place for local residents and holiday makers alike. The sailing is competitive although not over populated, and has produced some keen yachtsmen and women over the years. Merricks Yacht Club is the holder of the much coveted Westernport Challenge trophies for Off The Beach yachts (again) Classes sailed at Merricks include: Mosquito, Paper Tiger, Hobie, A Class, Sharpie, Castle 650, Explorer 16, Sabre, Laser, 420, Sparrow, and Optimists. Come down to sail or enjoy the atmosphere and the after-race happy hours.
