History

The Lac Deschenes Sailing Club was formed in 1966 to provide Ottawa dinghy and cat sailors a venue focused specifically on small boat sailing. A low cost volunteer organization, the club has a low-key cottage like atmosphere. Arguably the best site for sailing on this section of the river, the Lac Deschenes Sailing Club features beach launching for dry sailed dinghies and cats. Shirleys Bay provides excellent protection from the typically North West winds that come down the river, so setup and launching is convenient.
