History
Successful on the water, friendly and welcoming ashore, the Club's objectives are to encourage and promote yachting in all its aspects, and to maintain a clubhouse and other facilities for the use of members and visiting yachtsmen. The emphasis of the Club is very much on the practical enjoyment of sailing and motor-boating, to which the extensive racing and social programme is an adjunct. We are proud of our Wednesday Junior Sailing (WJS) programme and our nationally and internationally successful fleets of Optimists, Cadets, Lasers, 420s and 470s. We are also delighted that three of our Club Members won medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Our keel-boats compete at National level and we are regular prize winners in individual classes at Cowes week and in the Round the Island Race.
