History
Redesmere Sailing Club is set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Formed in 1957 to promote and encourage dinghy sailing and racing the Club is based on Redesmere, a feeder lake to the main Capesthorne Hall lake. The lake’s level is controlled by a sluice, and numerous small feeder streams mean the water level rarely varies by more than a few inches, even in the driest summers. The Club enjoys exclusive sailing rights to the lake, the only power boats being the Club’s own safety boats. It is quite a common sight to see a good number of dinghies out on the water over the weekends and also several evenings during the summer months. The Clubhouse, which has excellent views over the lake, boasts a main club room with bar, galley, and changing facilities complete with toilets and showers. The Clubhouse has been extensively refurbished recently making a pleasant location to watch the sailing or enjoy a social event.
