History

Oban Sailing Club was founded in 1935. Club activities are orientated towards racing, although not exclusively so. A number of Associate members cruise the legendary Hebrides, for which Oban makes a good base. Our clubhouse is located on the south side of Oban and is open during summer evening race events (most Tuesday and Thursday at 1900h) and during other activities and races (at some time during most weekends). There are 15 visitor moorings in Oban, opposite the club slipway, maintained by Oban Bay Berthing Co. Since spring 2009 they also maintain a landing stage near the clubhouse. Cardingmill Bay Mooring Owners Association runs the private moorings in front and southwest of the slipway: advance arrangements can often be made to use vacant, private moorings at a modest fee. Visitors are always welcome at the club, but we are sorry that the clubhouse is not open on a regular basis.
