Since 1837, Tamar Yacht Club has provided members with the best competition, social, on-water and clubhouse facilities in Northern Tasmania. As the oldest yacht club in the Southern Hemisphere, members enjoy the benefits of the resources and advantages that only a long established club can provide. People have many reasons for joining the Tamar Yacht Club. Keen sailors and power boaters mix with those who join for the social aspects of the clubs and the chance to make new friends. Experienced sailors have the opportunity to skipper or crew, from dinghies to ocean racers. Novices have opportunities to learn, and gain recognised qualifications on all sizes of boats. Friends, supporters and retired sailors can enjoy the great social atmosphere at either our Launceston or Beauty Point Clubhouses. You do not need to own a boat, or even have sailed previously.
