The White Rose sailing Association was formed by a small group of enthusiasts in 1957 and subsequently recognised by the Royal Yachting Association. Early in 1958 its present site at Givendale was obtained. From the beginning WRSA has sought to provide the competitive environment through which competent sailing and boat handling standards can be achieved. At the same time those features which make week-end sailing an exciting and enjoyable family sport are purposely maintained. White Rose is essentially a family sailing club. Its activities, both sailing and social, are well supported and family membership is encouraged. Members may participate in the club racing at all levels. It should, however, be pointed out that this programme, whilst seriously followed, is undertaken in keeping with the family spirit of the club.
