The Walton Sailing Club was started in 1908 for local sailors who used the Backwaters for recreation and racing and the first general meeting of the Walton-on-the-Naze Yacht Club was held two years later at the Albion Hotel in the town. We promote ourselves as being ‘the friendliest yacht club on the East Coast’ and try to live up to that title. It does not matter if you have loads of maritime experience or have never been on a boat before, our club tries to cater for all levels, with a range of training courses to develop your skills, or just talk to other members, and learn and gain knowledge from their experiences. Ages range from under 6 to over 90, some get involved in dinghy racing, others prefer larger boats, and some are happy to just sit and chat, drink or dine in the clubhouse, while watching others enjoying themselves on, and sometimes in, the water.
