History

Founded in 1964 by a small group of motorboating enthusiasts, the Penton Hook Yacht Club has grown to be one of the biggest and most successful clubs of its kind on the Thames. Organised by a dedicated committee of members, the activities of the club are carefully planned to take into account the interests of all its members. For the family, for the beginner, for the experienced or for those who just wish to relax in a convivial club atmosphere, the Penton Hook Yacht club offers its members the choice. There is no need to moor at Penton Hook Marina to be a member. The clubhouse itself which was spaciously extended a few years ago is a credit to its members. with a licensed bar managed by the club’s own steward, it offers a wholesome menu of hot and cold dishes throughout the year. A television set, pool table, dart-board and dining area are the added benefits of the club’s in-house facilities. The pleasing waterside location of the clubhouse between Chertsey and Staines is ideally situated for both the tranquil reaches of the upper Thames and the more challenging features of the river’s tidal waters below Teddington.
